We may get to see more content releases for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 in the future.

Black Ops 3 is not the most recent Call of Duty game. Despite that, it’s still very popular, and definitely more favoured by fans than this year’s Infinite Warfare.

Typically, Call of Duty games don’t receive post-launch content beyond what gets announced for the season pass. For Black Ops 3, planned content drops ended in September/October this year. However, this may not be the end of the line for the game just yet.

Black Ops 3 developer Treyarch recently hosted a short Facebook livestream (via CharlieIntel) to recap some of the things 2016 brought to the game and discuss future content. The studio’s Jason Blundell and Dan Bunting said that Black Ops 3 will be getting more updates in 2017.

The pair didn’t indicate if they’re referring to new content, as in maps and modes, or features and improvements, even if it looked like they’re hinting at the former. “I am afraid I can’t say anything right now,” said Bunting.

Co-studio head Dan Bunting did confirm one thing, though, a new feature called Newton’s Cookbook coming to the game’s Zombies mode. Outside of that, it looks like we’ll have to wait until next year to find out.

‘Tis the Season is all about giving, and we have some seriously awesome gifts heading your way. We hope that you’ve been good this year, because you won’t want to miss out on these items. Here’s a look at just some of what we have in store for Call of Duty players this month:

Epic Prototype Hailstorm – Thunder Pistol Bonus*

Call of Duty is honored to have some of the most loyal fans in gaming, and to show our gratitude we’re handing out a very cool weapon to players who have clocked time in both Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Call of Duty Infinite Warfare.

Starting today, all players who own Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and who also play Call of Duty: Black Ops III will receive an epic prototype Hailstorm – Thunder pistol. It’s just our way of saying thank you, and to reward you for your loyalty.

The Hailstorm – Thunder is extremely shiny (and deadly), and features a three-round burst along with two perks: Whirlwind, which is a fast cycling auto burst that increases recoil, and Focus to reduce idle sway while aiming down sights. So, jump in the game today and equip it in your loadout to show some pride.

Modern Warfare Remastered Maps and Modes

When Modern Warfare Remastered launched last month, it included ten remastered maps from the original game. On December 13, players who own Modern Warfare Remastered will receive the remaining six remastered maps: Bloc, Countdown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike, and Wet Work, along with the Hardpoint and Gun Game modes being made available in Modern Warfare Remastered for the first time.

Plus, we’re throwing in an additional chilly bonus as all Modern Warfare Remastered players will also get the remastered Winter Crash map in all its glory! We’ll be running a 24/7 Winter Crash playlist beginning on December 20 that will last through the holidays, and we’ll have more details soon.

Genesis Holiday Map

The holiday map makeover fever is spreading to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare as well! Later this month, players will find a Genesis Holiday map waiting for them as the Headquarters for the Division of Mechanical Evolution gets a festive new look. Plus there will be a 24/7 Genesis Holiday playlist, ready to spread cheer, goodwill, and high KDRs.

12 Days of Winter

As it turns out, the Hailstorm – Thunder pistol, Modern Warfare Remastered maps and modes, and Genesis Holiday map are just the top of the present pile! Starting on December 21 and running through January 1, we will be offering some extremely cool gifts every day to Infinite Warfare players who log into the game.

These freebies range from big Salvage and Key bonuses, to winter-themed personalization items, and even winter-themed Common, Rare, and Legendary prototypes! Twelve Days, twelve awesome gifts for free, just for logging into the game. Just remember to log in every day from December 21 through January 1 to get that day’s bonus.

But wait, there’s even more! We’ll have even more announcements coming up, along with additional special bonuses heading your way throughout #TisTheSeason including some Double XP events and more, so stay frosty!

Tune in to the Activision Games Blog, and follow @CallofDuty, @InfinityWard, and @RavenSoftware on Twitter for the latest news.

*Offer valid through 11:59pm on 12/31/2016 PST. Content available for use in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Game required; Sold separately. Bonus content valid only for players who own both Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops III and have logged into Black Ops III with a live internet connection and played Infinite Warfare during the offer period. Program may vary by region. Loyalty program subject to change. Actual timing of receiving loyalty item may vary. Internet connection required.
Black Ops 3 PC Modding & Mapping Tools – Open Beta

Today, we kick off our Open Beta for PC Modding & Mapping Tools

By John_Rafacz on September 27, 2016

In April, we began rolling out invitations to members of the PC modding community to participate in our Closed Alpha program. Months of testing, teamwork, iteration, updates, and refinements later, we’re pleased to announce that today marks the beginning of our Open Beta on PC!

Concluding our Alpha phase means that we’ve passed step one – there’s still work to be done, and with the start of the Open Beta we’re excited to begin the next phase of development…

Opening access to modding and mapping tools to a wider audience will allow us to more effectively address bugs, add polish, and move closer to a complete suite of PC features. While these tools are most certainly for the community, they wouldn’t be possible without the community itself, which is why we’re grateful for your patience and participation.

In the coming months, we plan to continue to work on enhancing the user experience and the ability to create modded content. The Open Beta will include an Unranked Server Browser that will allow users running mods to connect to each other’s custom game lobbies. The Unranked Dedicated Server files are still under development and their intended release is currently TBD. You can explore maps/mods created by the community in the Steam Workshop. There you can see some of the content developed during the Closed Alpha.

@treyarch and @PCDev_Assist on Twitter.

Thank you, and enjoy the PC Open Beta!

Call of Duty is about to get a taste of Titanfall and Halo this Tuesday. Black Ops 3 DLC 4 Salvation will be introducing a playable vehicle in Black Ops 3 multiplayer this Tuesday in the form of Mechs. Not much is known at this point (because we didnt get a chance to play it at XP) but the map “Rupture” will be the only map to have playable Mechs. The map is a remake of a map that had tanks before which probably explains it. It’s been a long time since a Call of Duty multiplayer map has had vehicles, check out the trailer below to see…

Descent is now available to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 players on PS4 along with the new Zombies experience set in the Origins saga.

As previously reported, the DLC contains four new multiplayer maps, but let’s have a written rundown of each one and the Zombies chapter again to save your clicker finger any extra strain:

  • Empire: Fan favorite map Raid returns, re-imagined in this classic, medium-sized map as an authentic Roman villa, where a classic map structure mixes with the new gameplay mechanics of Black Ops 3.
  • Berserk: A Viking village frozen in time enlists players to fight through blizzards, for control of the center bridge. This medium-sized map features wooden buildings, deadly rocky outcroppings, and tight chokepoints.
  • Cryogen: Located far in the Dead Sea, this isolated compound holds some of the world’s most dangerous criminals in frozen isolation. Sentry towers keep watch over the small map’s circular design as frenetic combat and wall running attacks abound.
  • Rumble: Gamers battle amongst larger-than-life mechanized warriors in this medium-sized map, which funnels high-speed combat to the central arena, where players battle their way through fallen mechs and pyrotechnics.
  • Gorod Krovi: Transports players to an alternate-timeline of Stalingrad in the Newest chapter of the Origins Zombies storyline. Players face-off against a swarm of mechanized zombie soldiers and avoid hell-fire from aerial dragon assaults, all in the midst of a raging battle within the remnants of Nikolai’s motherland.

Available now for PlayStation 4, Descent will run you $15 if you don’t own the $49.99 Season Pass. The content will be made available for PC and Xbox One after the month-long exclusivity period ends.

Activision and Treyarch have officially announced the third downloadable content pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Descent. Descent DLC Pack 3 will be available on July 12th on PlayStation 4.

“One of things I love most about Treyarch is that team just keeps going for it,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head, Treyarch. “Descent doesn’t take its foot off the gas, serving up a flat-out scorching Zombies experience, as well as multiplayer map designs and gameplay opportunities that we think our fans are going to love.”
This pack includes four new multiplayer maps, including a remake of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s Raid, and a new Zombies experience, Gorod Krovi.

Multiplayer Maps:

  • Empire: Treyarch adapts its Black Ops III movement system to the Call of Duty®: Black Ops II fan favorite map Raid. The re-imagining of this classic, medium-sized map features an authentic Roman villa that has been “recreated by a modern-day eccentric billionaire,” where a classic map structure mixes with the new gameplay mechanics of Black Ops III.
  • Cryogen: Located far off the coast in the Dead Sea, an isolated compound holds some of the world’s most dangerous criminals in frozen isolation. Sentry towers keep watch over the small map’s circular design as frenetic combat is funneled around the prison’s cryogenic tubes, where opportunities for wall running attacks abound.
  • Berserk: Ancient sentinels from a lost civilization guard the entrance to Berserk, a Viking village frozen in time. Players will fight through blizzards, and control the center bridge as they navigate this medium-sized map’s wooden buildings, deadly rocky outcroppings, and tight chokepoints.
  • Rumble: Gamers battle amongst larger-than-life mechanized warriors in Rumble, a stadium where giant robots battle to the roar of the crowd. This medium-sized map funnels high-speed combat to the central arena, where players battle their way through fallen mechs and pyrotechnics.

Zombies:

  • Gorod Krovi: Descent also thrusts players to an alternate universe of Nikolai’s motherland, the 1940s Soviet Union, in the next highly-anticipated chapter of the Origins Zombies saga, Gorod Krovi. Players face-off against a swarm of mechanized zombie infantry and dodge hell-fire from aerial dragon assaults, all in the middle of a raging battle within the remnants of Stalingrad. Gorod Krovi delivers the most exciting Zombies experience yet, filled with horrifying new enemies, exciting new gameplay mechanics and an epic set of Zombie annihilating weapons.
TRAILER:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Descent is available July 12th on PlayStation 4 and is coming soon to Xbox One and PC. Descent is available with the Black Ops 3 Season Pass or available separately for $14.99. DLC Pack 3 is not available on PS3 or Xbox 360.
