I've noticed a lot of people are using Hardline as their default perk on Specialist classes & even popular Youtubers have been suggesting it. Unless you get a lot of assists (and have Hardline Pro) it's counter-productive. For the purposes of comparison we'll say Hardline isn't a perk.

    No Hardline:
    0 kills - 3 perks
    2 kills - 4 perks
    4 kills - 5 perks
    6 kills - 6 perks
    8 kills - All Perks

    With Hardline:
    0 kills - 2 perks (Hardline)
    1 kills - 3 perks
    3 kills - 4 perks
    5 kills - 5 perks
    7 kills - All perks

With Hardline as Specialist perk #3:
    0 kills - 3 perks
    2 kills - 4 perks
    4 kills - 5 perks
    6 kills - 5 perks (Hardline)
    7 kills - All perks

    Edit:
To clarify, option #1 or #3 (I prefer the latter) are the most useful. Option #2 can be if you have Hardline Pro & rely on assists to unlock pointstreaks.

I used it as a default exclusively to get the pro version as quickly as possible. Now I use it as the 2 kill reward.

Depends on the class. With SMGs I run Hardline and Assassin as my 1st tier... but I'm just a noob!

I think he/she is saying that if you are using Hardline as a perk you are down 1 perk straight away as the Hardline perk is taking up a valuable slot. So using the hardline perk in a specialist strike combo is not useful until you get the 7th kill. :)

However, having hardline somewhere (eg either as specialist 2,4,6 kill perk or as a default perk) is still better than not having at all otherwise it takes 8 kills to unlock all perks.

Some people would prefer to get their first perk on the first kill. However the better players are confident they can get 7 kills in a row so they are able to put Hardline later in the chain and still have all perks by 7.

Also, getting 1 kill before dying is far easier than 2 for bad players. It's a 1 kill killstreak so it helps your challenges and gets you a bit of extra XP as well.

So I can see the bad players using Hardline to start so they just need 1 kill for Assassin.

Btw this is what I do, don't hurt me.

Lol, I use hardline so I can get assassin as well! It helps me flank without being noticed and get the other perks. I hear what you're saying tho, I'll try replacing it in my 3rd slot 7 kills is a must for specialist.

Use Hardline as your 3rd Spec perk. I have found that to get me the most success and the fastest way to get All Perks.

Using hardline with specialist is beatly to me. Cap the dom flag, boom another perk. And as you stated, Ive noticed i get plenty of assists, so when I get 2 assists, boom another perk. It just seems to work for me.

So does that mean if I start with Hardline I can drop the MOAB at 23 kills instead of 24?

I use hardline pro from start when using specialist, and then I get 1 kill straight into quikcdraw pro. The assists help, and not having it equipped at all (I.E after 8 kills) Is pretty pointless. I do get what your saying however, I think if you don't have hardline pro then it makes sense to use something else in tier 2.

Caping a point in DOM gives you point towards your killstreaks and so does shooting down a UAV. but remember to ditch the rocket launcher afterwards because you are only as fast as the heaviest weapon you possess.

Using hardline with specialists gets you your 4th perk after 1 kill. Yes please. I don't really see how it can be argued against.

I just use hardline as default, then I can get my assassin in one kill, and those pesky UAVs will be gone. Forever.

Or you could have Assassin as default. ;)
With Hardline (not Pro) I earn my 3rd useful perk after 1 kill, without it I already have it when I spawn & I have to wait an extra 1 kill for each useful perk. And since I'm not in the habit of getting a lot of assists, the only reason I'd need Hardline Pro is to reduce when I get ALL perks from 8 kills to 7, so why just have it as my final Specialist perk?

Of course if you do rely on Assists, then by all means have Hardline Pro as a default perk.
No, it reduces MOAB from 25 kills to 24.

i guess you guys dont really understand you have hardline as one of your perks. So you basically starting off with 2.. then you unlock the 3rd one after getting a kill where i already would have the 3rd perk. So your starting yourself off with less perks so its not helping you at all. I hope that helped you guys understand it better because the way he described it wasnt too good. Its only useful for unlocking all perks faster i guess. I came one kill short of getting the moab again yesterday with my p90 specialist setup its so depressing lol.

When going for M.O.A.B I always equip hardline... I see what your saying about it not been a useful perk. But I get alot of assists (aswell as kills) I still usually top the kills board by quite abit, but i will also have say 8 assists or 14 assists, or 7 assists etc. Even 8 assists means i would get the M.O.A.B 4 kills earlier. I know this would happen earlier anyway because you get all the perks after 8 kills. But these assists could be wasted.

I guess those assists are helpful but is it better then not dieing by grenades with blast shield not showing on uav steady aim aiming down your sight faster etc..These perks will save your life or earn you kills easier hardline does nothing with specialist that makes it worth using. what are the chances of you getting enough assists to really even help u mid streak anyway? most people probly dont get more then 6 a game so unless u stay alive the entire game its useless.

I have Hardline and then instantly choose quickdraw. As I said, I get quite alot of assists, so it helps me get to my higher streaks.. its only 7 kills until you ahve every perk anyway, 7 kills isnt many at all.

I use SOH, Quickdraw, and Stalker as a default on my specialist class. Then for the killstreaks I use Assassin, Blind Eye, and Blast Shield. I like getting Assassin after 2 kills :p

At first I thought the specialist tier sounded stupid, but it's a great addition to the game

Hardline pro as tier 2 perk for me. Kill one person and get a 4th perk (in my case, assassin pro). HL Pro is very valuable as it allows me to get the 5th, 6th and all perks one kill easier. Also two assists count towards it too.

It is uber useful. I even run HL on one of my assault classes, as the whole one kill less business combined with two assists = 1 kill towards the kill streak really does help.

I assist for days, so it helps ME.

I do see what people are saying about having something else as a T2 perk. Problem is you then have to get TWO kills before unlocking your 4th perk.

I'm sure many forum heroes who are the "best players evarr!!1111" will say that's easy and sure, to the majority of us, it is, alas you can't always guarantee on getting two kills every time unless you are camping your ass off or playing against noobs. People may die 3 kills in if they have a more aggresive play style (like me) and not get their 5th perk.

    With HL to start with, 1, 3, 5, 7 is easier than 2, 4, 6, 8 or 2 (HL), 3, 5, 7.

I see the point you're making, but the way I use it works for me. Extreme conditioning, hardline, dead silence. First unlock SoH. Cause you don't need it till after your first kill. Then Sitrep to sound whore at 3. And then Steady aim to spray and pray at 5. Get my scavenger at 7 = beautiful.

I don't get what you're getting at Fandom o_O Why is using Hardline counter-productive if it reduces the kills needed by 1?

exactly... and not to mention the fact that hardline pro also gives the very important bonus of giving a kill for every 2 assists. That alone is worth running hardline pro on any killstreak/support/specialist package.

Its probably been said but, the reason 'prominent youtubers' suggest having hardline on as tier 2 perk is to get a gauranteed specialist streak from any kill straight off a death. This allows you to get multiple challenges really fast and makes you level up a hell of alot faster than other ways.

The assist kill helps me alot. When I play with my friends, we usually compete for kills, and 2 assists = kill = win.

Because instead of having 3 useful perks straight of the bat, you have to wait 1 kill for your 3rd perk & subsequently have to wait an extra kill for each useful perk. That could be the difference between life & death.

I only see it as being worthwhile at the end when you earn ALL perks.
Which is why I said this only applies to those who don't rely on assists with Hardline Pro, not everyone.

yea, i think its just preference, and in all honesty jsut thinking about all these numbers gave me a headache..Id assume the 2nd perk slot is a coin flip between assassin and hardline...

with hardline equipped, you get 7 kills to be a beast, without it 8 kills (or even 7 kills in fandoms lineup)...so i really say the difference is too small to be important, its just a preference.

ultimately the main point is this, if your good, this killstreak only makes you better. and given the kinda crappy assault streaks, this has become my go to killstreak.
